Police have issued an urgent appeal to the public as detectives continue investigating the death of a 19-year-old woman in Finchley, North London.
Officers are actively searching for 21-year-old James Duncan, from the Barnet area, who is known to the victim and is wanted for questioning in connection with the ongoing investigation.

According to police, Duncan fled the area of Dale Grove, Finchley, at approximately midnight on Monday, June 8, and has not been located despite extensive search efforts. Authorities have released his image and are urging members of the public not to approach him if seen.
Instead, anyone who spots James Duncan is advised to call 999 immediately.
Police initially responded to reports of gunshots at the scene. However, investigators have stressed that the exact cause of the young woman’s death has not yet been confirmed, pending the results of a post-mortem examination.
Detective Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo, who is leading the investigation, described the victim as a “much-loved young woman, daughter and sister” whose death has devastated those closest to her.
“My team are working around the clock to locate James Duncan and piece together the events that resulted in this tragic loss of life,” DCI Bhangoo said.
He also urged anyone with information regarding Duncan’s whereabouts, as well as residents who may have relevant doorbell camera footage or motorists with dashcam recordings from Dale Grove, to contact police immediately.
The investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
